Community Services
Over 80% of our employees live in the Valley area, thus making us a hospital that truly serves the needs of the families that make up our community. At Griffin, our employees are encouraged to reach beyond their daily work and become active community members. Through our employees' support, Griffin hosts several free health screenings, trainings and lectures every year to increase the health awareness of the community.
Beyond the hospital, our employees serve on many non-profit boards, promote the commerce of the valley, volunteer their time for civic duty, and provide donations to support the vitality of the community.
Griffin Hospital benefits the communities it serves in myriad ways, providing nearly $800,000 in charity care, subsidizing the care provided to patients covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and other public programs by approximately $5.6 million, providing more than 1.3 million worth of health professions education to help prepare the next generation of caregivers, and subsidizing nearly $4.7 million worth of other health services.
In total, Griffin Hospital provides nearly $12.4 million in community benefit in Fiscal Year 2007. Click here for a summary of some of these activities.
